The Anglican
University College of Technology has held its 5th Graduation
ceremony at the Nkoranza campus. The ceremony held on 15th March,
2025 and presided over by the institution’s Chairman of Council, Dr. (“ h c”) Daniel
Owiredu graduated
a total of 132
students made up of 83 men and 49 females.
In his welcome
address, Dr. Owiredu expressed gratitude
to the Board of Trustees for the confidence reposed in the newly constituted
Council and assured it that, the Council will be fully committed to upholding
the values of academic excellence that has defined the institution since its
inception.
He advised the new graduates to be the positive effect in their workplace by striving
to be the best version of themselves.
The President of
the University College, Dr. Eric Palmer Amaning in his address said a total of 402
students were admitted into the University College in the 2024/2025 academic year.
According
to him, students result for both MDC and NMC professional examinations have
improved in the last two years. He extended his appreciation to all staff who continue to go the
extra mile to ensure these results are worth celebrating.
Providing an update
on the institution, Dr. Amaning said as part
of efforts to obtain a presidential charter and also match the increase
in student numbers, academic and
physical facilities were improved. Among this was the handing over of a
furnished 70-seater capacity classroom for use by students at the Nkoranza
campus.
Speaking on the theme “The
Role of the Nursing and Midwifery Council in the training of Professional
Nurses and Midwives in Ghana” Madam Bernice
B. Gyau, Regional Director of the Bono and Ahafo NMC who represented the guest
speaker said NMC’s responsibility is to ensure that, education and training
provided to professional nurses and midwives meet the highest standards of
professionalism, ethics, and competence.
This, she said is done by
ensuring that, NMC collaborates closely with accredited institutions to develop
and revise the nursing curriculum periodically so that, as healthcare evolves,
contents of its curriculum do same.
She admonished graduates to
uphold the values of professionalism, integrity, and empathy as they serve their
patients.

at the ceremony were the Pro-Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Prof. David Asamaoh, Prof.
Elvis Ofori Ameyaw, Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences,
UCC, Nana Okofo Adjapong III, Adontenhene of the Nkoranza
Traditional Council, Staff of the University College, SRC executives, students,
Alumni and friends of the University College.
